Setting up newsletters

Welcome to our guide on how to set up newsletters in Magento 2. This feature is an excellent way to keep your customers informed about new products, promotions, and updates about your store. Follow these steps to start engaging with your customers through effective email marketing.

Step 1: Enabling the Newsletter Feature

Before you can start sending newsletters, you need to ensure that the newsletter feature is enabled in your Magento 2 store.

  1. Log in to the Admin Panel.
  2. Navigate to Stores > Configuration.
  3. In the left panel under Customers, select Newsletter.
  4. Expand the General Options section.
  5. Set Enabled to Yes.
  6. Click Save Config to apply the changes.

Step 2: Configuring Newsletter Subscription Options

Magento 2 allows you to configure how customers can subscribe to your newsletter.

  1. Within the Newsletter settings, find the Subscription Options section.
  2. Configure the following settings as desired:
    • Require Confirmation: If set to Yes, customers will need to confirm their subscription via email. This is recommended to avoid spam subscriptions.
    • Confirmation Email Sender: Select the store email address that will send the confirmation request.
    • Confirmation Email Template: Choose the email template for confirmation requests.
    • Success Email Template: Select the template for the email sent after a successful subscription.
    • Unsubscription Email Sender/Template: Similarly, select the sender and template for emails sent upon unsubscription.
  3. Click Save Config to apply your changes.

Step 3: Managing Newsletter Subscribers

To view and manage your newsletter subscribers:

  1. Go to Marketing > Communications > Newsletter Subscribers.
  2. Here, you can see a list of all subscribers. Use the filters to sort by status, email, etc.
  3. You can manually add new subscribers by clicking Add New Subscriber and filling in the necessary information.
  4. To modify the subscription status of existing subscribers, select them and choose the desired action from the Actions dropdown menu.

Step 4: Creating and Sending Newsletters

  1. To create a new newsletter, navigate to Marketing > Communications > Newsletter Template.
  2. Click Add New Template to create a new email template for your newsletter.
  3. Fill in the template information, such as Template Name, Subject, Sender Name, and Sender Email. Use the editor to design your newsletter content.
  4. After saving your template, you can preview it and send a test email to yourself.
  5. To dispatch your newsletter, go to Newsletter Queue on the same page and select Add to Queue for your template. Specify the Queue Date Start to schedule when the newsletter will be sent out.

Step 5: Monitoring Newsletter Effectiveness

After sending out newsletters, it’s important to monitor their effectiveness. Magento 2 doesn’t provide in-depth analytics for newsletters, so consider integrating third-party email marketing tools that offer detailed insights into open rates, click rates, and other key performance indicators.

Conclusion

Setting up and managing newsletters in Magento 2 is a straightforward process that can significantly enhance your customer engagement and retention strategies.
